The Troubadour has an easy design such that when you randomly mash all the buttons, you'd provide all the right boons and heals. This build has selected utilities for minimal cognitive complexity, such that the hardest part of playing this build is enduring the out-of-sync music throughout the fight.

While this guide assumes no weapon swap is needed, if you take an off-tank role, you may consider swapping rifle to other alternatives.

Rotation and Utilities

There is no fixed rotation for this build. Even if you randomly press buttons you will still provide boons and adequate heals.

Quickness

You will need to use the following for quickness:

  1. Lively Lute
  2. Crescendo (while as many instruments are playing as possible)

Swiftness

  1. Mantra of Recovery
  2. Power Return

Your healing skills trigger  Relic of Febe to grant swiftness, use them off cooldown.

Shield or Focus can partially cover quickness, allowing you to drop  Relic of Febe

General rotation

  1. Generate Notes (Clones)
    • Journey (R2)
    • Phantasmal Sharpshooter (R4)
    • Mantra of Recovery -> Power Return (Heal)
    • Any tale with instrument-pairing
  2. Spend Notes to play Instruments as soon as they recharged (2 or more notes)
  3. Use Crescendo when you have 3 or more instruments playing
  4. You provide lots of boons and healing through instruments, rifle skills and utilities provide even more of them.

Utilty

You may replace skill slot 9 with any of the following:

  1. Tale of the Valiant Marshal for a stun break + short stability + additional notes
  2. Mantra of Concentration for permanent stability
  3. Mantra of Resolve for heavy condi cleanses
  4. Feedback for reflects
  5. Portal Entre for skips

Crowd Control

You have decent CC with your base kit:

  1. Phantasmal Sharpshooter (R4)
  2. Deafening Drum (F3)
  3. Tale of the August Queen (Elite)
  4. Crescendo (while Drum is playing)

Your weapon swaps allow access to additional CCs.

Optimisations

Mesmer as a class is designed to be flexible. The skill choices on this site are designed to be simple. There are an incredible amount of permutations that are not exhausted in this guide. You may introduce additional utilities when you are comfortable so play around.
